Habits Description

Occurs from sea level to 700 m on the Atlantic slopes in association with rain forest habitats. The males are found perching about 4 to 8 meters above the ground on tree trunks in light gaps and along forest edges. Females are active at midday. As in other species, both sexes are often found in association with the hostplant. While at rest, the butterfly folds the forewing down into the hindwing, which in profile looks like an isosceles triangle. In this position the butterfly is almost invisible. Infrequently collected at rotting fruits in the understory and in the canopy, and occasionally the males will visit wet sand.
