Approximately 8 days.

Pupa Description

Variable in color, from pale green to dark brown; body thickens from cremaster to wingpads; small dorsal keel; head terminates in two flat, partially fused, then diverging head horns.

Adults Description

Distinguished from similar species by having red crescents in the distalmost ocelli on the hindwing margins.

Habits Description

Occurs from sea level to 1,200 m, but most common in association with disturbed Guanacaste forest. This is the commonest species in Costa Rica, and is persistent throughout the year in all habitats, sometimes passing the Guanacaste dry season in reproductive diapause.
