Habits Description

Occurs from sea level to 1,200 m, in all forested habitats of Costa Rica . Most frequently seen flying along forest edges or rivers during the morning or at midday. The flight is slow and deliberate, The females are active during midday, searching for oviposition sites along forest edges and in large forest light gaps. Both sexes feed on rotting fruits at any time during the day, but not fruits that are in the canopy. Although the typical flight is slow, when alarmed, individuals can fly very fast, like a typical charaxine.
