Pupa Description

Elongated oval shape , similar to Caligo memnom but bigger in size , also darker and more wide.

Adults Description

The largest Costa Rican species, distinguished by the gray-blue base of wings on upperside; underside has ocellus isolated in a grayish underside.

Habits Description

Widespread and common from sea level to 1,600 m on both slopes, in association with wet forest habitats. It does not occur in the deciduous forest habitats of Guanacaste. Occasionallya pest on bananas. In the insectary, C. eurilochus and C. memnon hybridize freely, and the progeny look like C. eurilochus.
