The Butterfly Farm is an ideal destination for organized tour groups, school groups of all ages, families and individuals. Tours are conducted in small groups of rarely more than a dozen people, allowing for fluid interaction between guests and their guide. The farm´s guides are thoughtful people from an assortment of backgrounds. While highly knowledgable of the science of the butterfly, they may draw from visitors their own perceptions of the butterfly and aperceive what others, from the ancient Greeks to pre-Columbian indigenous people have long understood. The Butterfly Farm tour is a highly engaging experience, one that goes beyond the "mere butterfly" and leaves people with much to contemplate. As one recent visitor remarked upon leaving, "Now I know why I had to come to The Butterfly Farm."
The farm is located about 20 minutes southwest of the Juan Santamaria International Airport and 45 minutes west of San José. It´s well situated as an easy detour for people travelling from the Central Valley towards Puntarenas, Guanacaste and Arenal area, making a lifelong memory of an otherwise uneventful drive.
In March 2010 the new San José -- Caldera highway is expected to open. This will bring The Butterfly Farm to within an easy 20 minute drive from San José!
