How to get to The Butterfly Farm

The Butterfly Farm is situated in the central valley town of La Guácima de Alajuela. La Guácima is about a 25 minute drive west of San José (from La Sabana park).  The town is also located about 25 minutes southwest of Alajuela and the Juan Santamaría International Airport.  The Butterfly Farm is located 500 meters south, 100 meters east, of the main entrance to Los Reyes Country Club.  The farm's entrance is on the left hand side.

Now open!  The new San José -- Caldera Highway:
In March 2010 the new highway connecting San José and the port of Caldera on the Pacific coast was opened.  La Guácima and The Butterfly Farm are now about 25 minutes from San José and directly on the way to the Pacific!  The exit for La Guácima is soon to open.  If coming from San José, after the second toll booth take the COYOL, CIRUELAS exit and bear right at the circle.  Take the road (Calle Sánchez) for a few kilometers until the end and turn right.  This will lead you straight into downtown La Guácima.  Turn right at the "T" and follow the signs for The Butterfly Farm.
