The Butterfly Farm is situated in the central valley town of La Guácima de Alajuela. La Guácima is about a 25 minute drive west of San José (from La Sabana park). The town is also located about 25 minutes southwest of Alajuela and the Juan Santamaría International Airport. The Butterfly Farm is located 500 meters south, 100 meters east, of the main entrance to Los Reyes Country Club. The farm's entrance is on the left hand side.
If travelling to the Pacific coast, Monteverde, Arenal or elsewhere, a stop-off at The Butterfly Farm is an ideal way to make your trip ever more memorable. Being so close to the airport, a visit to The Butterfly Farm is a terrific way to begin or conclude a visit to Costa Rica.

Now open! The new San José -- Caldera Highway:
In March 2010 the new highway connecting San José and the port of Caldera on the Pacific coast was opened. La Guácima and The Butterfly Farm are now about 25 minutes from San José and directly on the way to the Pacific! The exit for La Guácima is now open. If coming from San José, after the second toll booth take the LA GUÁCIMA exit. Turn left and on the main road follow the signs for The Butterfly Farm. This will lead you straight into our facilities.
