For those with aesthetic sensibilities, you won’t want to miss the beauty! The day begins with a hotel pick up and trip to The Butterfly Farm in the rural community of La Guácima. After a total immersion experience in the butterflies, it’s a short drive to the Botanical Orchid Garden. Visitors will be shown through nurseries, a lower showroom, garden trails, water gardens and more. By the end visitors will have learned to distinguish among the different stages that orchids pass through, the extreme flower variation, how to take care of them and much more. A delicious lunch is served at the Vanilla Café, the garden’s well-regarded restaurant. Participants should be heading back to their hotel by around 1:30 p.m.

We start early in the morning with pick-ups from many of the main hotels of San José. Arriving at The Butterfly Farm in La Guácima de Alajuela, the tour proceeds through a tropical garden where the magic of free flying butterflies, art and mythology become one with natural history. Afterwards we proceed to INBio Park in Santo Domingo de Heredia where a walk begins, surrounded by tropical forest, and native flora and fauna such as spiders, frogs, snakes, tortoises, deers, sloths, caimans and iguanas, among many others.
One can also enjoy a fascinating light and sound presentation that explores much about Costa Rica’s protected areas. A delicious Costa Rican lunch is served in INBio Park’s own Heliconius Restaurant before the bus returns to San José mid-afternoon.
